Recently, in addition to the shortage of wafers, memory devices are also facing a serious shortage and rising prices, up nearly 15%. As the cornerstone of memory devices, 12 inch silicon plays an important role.

    According to the official news of Zhongxin wafer, after observing such a trend, Zhongxin wafer has officially put the 12 inch expansion plan on the agenda, and will continue to expand the production capacity of 70000 pieces per month on the basis of the existing 30000 pieces per month, with a view to reaching the scale of 100000 pieces per month by the end of the year. But 100000 pieces is only a phased goal of Zhongxin. Next year, Zhongxin will continue to actively seek capacity expansion, and eventually form a 12 inch capacity of 200000 or even 300000 pieces per month.           

    The Qiantang New Area Project of Hangzhou Zhongxin wafer semiconductor Co., Ltd. was officially settled in 2017 and started construction in February 2018, with a registered capital of 2.9 billion yuan, covering an area of 133400 square meters and a plant area of 150000 square meters. The total investment of the project is 1 billion US dollars, and there are three 8-inch (200 mm) and two 12 inch (300 mm) production lines.

    In June 2019, the first batch of 8-inch (200 mm) semiconductor silicon polished wafers of Hangzhou Zhongxin wafer was successfully rolled off the production line. In November of the same year, the completion and commissioning ceremony of Hangzhou Zhongxin wafer project was held.           

    In 2020, after the internal adjustment of Ferrotec group and the integration of the businesses of Ningxia Zhongxin wafer semiconductor technology Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Zhongxin wafer semiconductor technology Co., Ltd., Zhongxin wafer three factories have realized the complete production from single crystal silicon rod drawing to 100 mm ~ 300 mm wafer processing. Now it has 9 8-inch production lines and 2 12 inch production lines with mature technology, with annual production capacity of 2.4 million pieces / 300 mm, 5.4 million pieces / 200 mm and 4.8 million pieces / 150 mm.
